Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school. They will be able to fill up their water bottle as required throughout the school day. Water has been proven to help with children's concentration levels and keep them hydrated.
Spellings will be given out on a Friday, to be returned by the following Friday and the spelling test will be on a Friday.
Children to complete 10 mins of TTRS everyday to become confident in all of the times tables. Children have the Multiplication Check in June.
Please listen to your child read as often as possible, this could be just 5 minutes every night. It doesn't always have to be their school reading book but could be a book you are reading together at home or a magazine. Please sign your child's reading record. Please return reading books when they have finished reading the book and a new one will be issued. Children will have the opportunity to change their home reader every day (if they have finished reading it) and they can also change their library books regularly. Children were also given a reading passport to complete during their time at SSMJ. Children can earn themselves reading certificates in Friday's assembly when a challenge has been completed.
Below are the The Year 3 and 4 Words that your child should be able to read and spell by the end of Year 4. Children are tested on these every term.
You will also find our KIRFS (Key, Instant, Recall, Facts)
These will be tested and changed half termly. Please practise as often as possible.
If you have any questions please contact Mrs Thornton and Mrs Booth via dojo.

Times tables are really important and children are expected to know their times tables up to 12 x 12, including division facts by the end of the year. Please practise these with your child as often as possible.
Each year group has different knowledge and skills to work on to help your child be the best that they can be, so here are some key things that we focus on in Year 4 (Non Negiotables).
