Reading Ambassadors
Our Reading Ambassadors 2023 2024
Summer 2
We managed it today as we had some gorgeous sunshine to enjoy reading a good book.
We met on the 1/7/24 and the Reading Ambassadors sorted out books they could take outside to read to the children. We have collected some outside cushions for the children to sit comfortably and enjoy sharing a good book. Unfortunately it is raining today so we will have to wait for tomorrow.
When we met on 24/6/24 the Reading Ambassadors decided they would like to complete some things before the summer:
*Do a book swap across school so children had something new to read over the summer.
*Tell people about the Reading Challenge happening at Clitheroe Library
*Develop a reading area outside
As a result we have organised for Rebecca Hewitt to come in from Clitheroe library to tell the whole school all about the reading challenge taking place over the summer holidays.
Summer 1
Our Reading Ambassadors have enjoyed reading to others and enjoying the sunshine at lunch today (13/5/24). They are continuing to show and share their passion for all things reading. Well done!
Spring 1 Challenge
During our meeting on 15/1/24, the Reading Ambassadors decided they would be challenging the children to the 15 book challenge this half term. The children will need to read or listen to a book out of each category and have it signed off by an adult. The children will then talk to the Reading Ambassadors about a book they have read. The children will receive a bronze certificate for reading 5 books, a silver certificate for 10 books or a gold certificate for reading 15 books.
Reading Challenge Spring 1
Congratulations to all our children who are crossing off our 'Reading Challenge'. There were a lot of children receiving certificates on Friday. Well done! Last day for submission of the challenge is Thursday 8th February 2024.
Reading Ambassadors 19/2/24
At our meeting this week the children discussed the competition they would like to have ready for World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. They created some posters to inform children around school of the event.
22/1/24 & 29/1/24 :
The Reading Ambassadors are currently working on creating posters (during our meetings) to decorate our library areas with some books they would recommend for reading and why they would suggest you read them. These are the posters so far:
Our 2022-2023 Reading Ambassadors
Our Reading Ambassadors play a very important role in our school. They are the voice for their class in relation to reading and all things book related! The Reading Ambassadors help to raise the profile of reading, help to organise events and represent their peers at governor committee meetings. This term the Reading Ambassadors organised our World Book Day from the point of generating and deciding upon event ideas; sharing the plans with their peers and teachers; encouraging their class to get involved; and judging the competitions on the day. They did a fabulous job and we can't wait to see what they plan for the summer term.
