Faith & Geography

Our Catholic faith has strong links with Geography, they both go hand in hand. We firmly believe that we are charged with looking after God's World and caring for the world around us and our Geography curriculum takes every opportunity to promote this giving children knowledge and skills to continue their work long after they leave SSMJ. We aim for pupils to develop an awareness of the world around them, how they fit in as Global Citizens and their own human impact on our ever-changing world.  Through high-quality direct teaching and an enquiry-based approach, pupils will learn about their own locality and compare it with other diverse people and places on Earth.  Through this learning, pupils will leave SSMJ as informed and active future Global Citizens with an awareness of how their lives are connected to others and how their actions make an impact on the environments they inhabit so that they can make responsible choices for the future. We want children to follow the example of Jesus, to learn, love and respect one another to be the best they can be.

We let our faith shine when we are out and about exploring our world while learning about Geography and learning how to take care of it.
