Welcome to Year Three
Class Teacher - Mrs Grimshaw
Teaching Assistant - Mrs Stephens
Welcome back to school after half term. I hope you had a restful, peaceful week with your families in the sun.
Here is some information about this term. Remember to check out our School Twitter and Facebook feed or Class Dojo for more up to date information.
In RE, we are learning about Reconciliation. We will think about consequences of our behaviour and how we can make good choices in our lives. We will then think about how God always forgives us when we are sorry, linking this to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
In English are researching to write a report, thinking about the key features that we need to include. We will be looking at play scripts, based on a plot structure and move on to make an explanation poster and a short film. In Maths, we are learning about angles in shapes, parallel and perpendicular lines and how to make a 3D shape. We will then move on to learn how to measure mass and capacity.
P.E. will take place on a Tuesday and Friday and your child is able to come to school wearing their PE/sports kits. They will need trainers and school jumper or cardigan. Reminder, no earrings please. On hot days, please remember to put sun cream on your children before they come to school.
Please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school. They will be able to fill up their water bottle as required throughout the school day.
Homework and spellings will be sent out on a Friday and due in the following Friday.
Reading is of high importance so we all need to listen to your child read as often as possible. The children will be able to change their books after they have finished and a parent has signed their reading record.
Please could I remind all parents to send a coat into school every day. The weather is unpredictable and we are trying to keep the children playing outside as much as possible.
If your child is off school due to Covid reasons, please access the Year 3 CV Home Learning page on the website where activities will be uploaded. Please upload their work to their own class dojo portfolio.
Any question or problems, please message me via class dojo and I will do my best to respond rapidly.
Times tables are really important and children are expected to know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 times tables by the end of Year 3. Please practise these with your child as often as possible.
Children are encouraged to behave well in class through consistent praise, stickers, dojos, raffle tickets, certificates and prizes.
