Welcome to Year Three
Class Teacher - Mrs Grimshaw

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to school after our half term break. I hope you had a restful, peaceful week with your families.
Here is some information about this term. Remember to check out our School Twitter and Facebook feed or Class Dojo for more up to date information.
Subjects
In RE, we are learning about the different sections of our church service and what each part signifies. As we are now in Lent, we will be focussing on the preparations for Easter and Holy Week.
We have started our new novel, The Iron Man, by Ted Hughes, in English where we will be creating settings and characters based around the same plot for our own stories. In Maths, we are moving on to measurement and revisiting fractions.
We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 4th March and STEM week on the 15th March.
P.E
P.E. will take place on a Tuesday and Wednesday and your child is able to come to school wearing their PE/sports kits. They will need trainers and school jumper or cardigan.
Water bottles
Please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school. They will be able to fill up their water bottle as required throughout the school day.
Homework
Homework and spellings will be sent out on a Friday and due in the following Friday.
Reading
Reading is of high importance so we all need to listen to your child read as often as possible. The children will be able to change their books after they have finished and a parent has signed their reading record.
All weather
Please could I remind all parents to send a coat into school every day. The weather is unpredictable and we are trying to keep the children playing outside as much as possible.
If your child is off school due to Covid reasons, please access the Year 3 CV Home Learning page on the website where activities will be uploaded. Please upload their work to their own class dojo portfolio.
Any question or problems, please message me via class dojo and I will do my best to respond rapidly.
Thank you,
Mrs Grimshaw
Spellings are tested weekly. Here are the Year 3 and 4 words.
Times tables are really important and children are expected to know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 times tables by the end of Year 3. Please practise these with your child as often as possible.
Children are encouraged to behave well in class through consistent praise, stickers, dojos, raffle tickets, certificates and prizes.
Our prize and certificate winners this week. You are stars!
