Church, home and our community.
RE Autumn 1 2021
Welcome to Year Three
Class Teacher - Mrs Grimshaw
Teaching Assistant - Miss Brown
Welcome back to school after the Summer break and welcome to Year 3. I hope you had a restful, peaceful time with your families in the sun/rain.
Here is some information about this term and life in Year 3. Remember to check our Class Dojo, Facebook feed or School Twitter for more up to date information.
In RE, we are learning about God, family and the Church. We will think about our own families and our wider family in our school, church and community. We will explore how God is present in every home. This is expressed in the love that binds the family together within the home through good times and bad times.
In English we are starting with a narrative topic and the children will innovate their own stories. The children will then learn about London and create an information guide. In Maths, we are learning about place value and building on our knowledge from Year 2. We will then move onto addition and subtraction.
P.E. will take place on a Tuesday and Friday and your child is able to come to school wearing their PE/sports kits. They will need trainers and school jumper or cardigan. Reminder, no earrings please.
Please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school. They will be able to fill up their water bottle as required throughout the school day.
Homework and spellings will be sent out on a Friday and due in the following Friday.
Reading is of high importance so we all need to listen to your child read as often as possible. The children will be able to change their books after they have finished and a parent has signed their reading record.
Please could I remind all parents to send a coat into school every day. The weather is unpredictable and we are trying to keep the children playing outside as much as possible.
If your child is off school due to Covid reasons, please access the Year 3 CV Home Learning page on the website where activities will be uploaded. Please upload their work to their own class dojo portfolio.
Any question or problems, please message me via class dojo and I will do my best to respond rapidly.
Times tables are really important and children are expected to know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 times tables by the end of Year 3. Please practise these with your child as often as possible.
Children are encouraged to behave well in class through consistent praise, stickers, dojos, raffle tickets, certificates and prizes.
