Growing In Faith Together -GIFT Team

The GIDT TEAM 2020/21

The GIFT Team 2019/20

The  GIFT Team covers three different aspects of our faith. GIFT means Growing in Faith Together.

  • The GIFT Team - leads worship during The Rosary and Stations of the Cross.
  • Bible Buddies - Looking at the Word of God.
  • The Caritas Ambassadors - promoting and delivering social action projects within the school, parish and community.

These children from Year 5 and Year 6 were given the opportunity to apply for the different positions and roles.

The GIFT Team have been running for a few years now and have performed  some very moving  choroegraphed prayers or stick dances at school and Diocesan Masses. The children practiced at lunchtimes under the supervision of Mrs Clarkson and Mrs Webb.

The Bible Buddies run a lunchtime Bible Story and linked activity for the Infants. This has been very popular with the younger children.

The Caritas Ambassadors have raised the profile of various school charities and initiatives such as collecting for the local Clitheroe Food Bank and St Joseph's Penney during Lent.

Choreographed Prayer

We were very proud of our GIFT Team at Christmas.  We have a record number of Chaplains at SSMJ - our largest to date.  13 pupils performed at the end of the KS2 Nativity Concert.  Our choreographed prayer was to the music 'Noel' by Chris Tomein.  It was magical and immensely moving.

We posted it on our Facebook page and gained 1900 views!

A very well done to the GIFT Team!

Food Bank

In the Autumn Term our Chaplaincy Team supported the Food Bank.  The school donated many, many items that were in need in the Ribble Valley.  We unloaded 2 cars full of boxes and packets and tins.  Well done to the Chaplains for raising awareness and helping deliver food to the needy.

See more photographs on Twitter and Facebook to see the children in action.
