Year 5

Welcome to Year Five

Class Teacher - Mrs Jackson

Autumn 2

Welcome back! I hope you have enjoyed the half term holiday and are ready for lots of hard work ahead.  As you are aware, this half term is always a busy one due to all of the normal lessons etc. as well as all the Christmas preparations (although they will be very different this year).

This half term, we are focusing on the topic of food and where it comes from.  Included in this, I am arranging cookery sessions for all of the children in order for them to learn skills such as chopping, peeling and slicing.

Our homework this half term is focusing on writing instead of reading.  The children are to choose ONE writing activity each week to complete and put on their portfolio on Class Dojo or upload onto Teams.  Please try to avoid sending any work in as it means it has to be quarantined before it can be marked.

The children are to continue completing the maths booklets (one page per week) these are to be brought in to school so that they can be marked by the children as a class.

Please encourage your child to write in their reading records when they have read something (this doesn’t have to be their reading book from school, it can be any book/ magazine/ newspaper/ online text etc)

Please make sure your child is wearing their full PE kit (including trainers) on Tuesday and Wednesday (note the change of day) Please also ask them to wear their school jumper/ cardigan instead of hoodies. Thanks.

If you have any concerns/ questions/ queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your continued support.

Stay safe,

Mrs Jackson
