Summer 2

Welcome back to our final half term of Year 5, I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone! I hope you all managed to get outside and enjoy the lovely weather we have had.

This half term we will continue with our swimming lessons, which will finish on Thursday 8th July.  The children have shown real perseverance during the swimming lessons and I am very proud of how hard they are all working.

Also this half term, we are focussing on The Ancient Greeks, we will be looking at the location, impact and similarities to modern times.  This links to our English topic as we are writing myths, and due to the Ancient Greeks being amazing story tellers, we can choose some of their many stories to focus on.  We will be looking at the books 'The Fire Thief' by Terry Deary, 'Who let the Gods out?' by Maz Evans as well as the 'Horrible Histories: Groovy Greeks'

In our RE topic we are learning about Hinduism and then focusing on freedom and responsibility linking to the Ten Commandments as a gift from God.
