  • Increasing the range and number of extra curricular activities.
  • Increased attendance at sporting competitions.
  • Targeting SEND and Pupil Premium children to ensure that they are given opportunities to represent the school in sporting competitions.

EFL Cup finalists!

After reaching the finals of the BFC in the Community local area competition, our winning team of Year 5/6 girls went on to represent Burnley Football Club in the EFL Cup regional final.

The girls received their Burnley Football Club kits from Lianne Bradford (BFC in the Community) in a special assembly.

On Wednesday this week the girls went to Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre where they played in competitive matches against other North West EFL football teams such as Preston North End, Rochdale, Halifax Town, Blackpool, Oldham Athletic and Blackburn Rovers.

The girls represented the school, Burnley Football Club and themselves in the most fantastic way, showing determination, resilience, competitiveness and fairness (we were unlucky not to pick up the fair play award).

Sadly we did not qualify for the National Finals, but we had the most amazing experience and even had our photographs taken with the actual Premier League trophy, which was kindly loaned out for the day by the current champions Manchester City.

Champions!

It was the Burnley Football Club in the Community Year 5/6 girls' football finals on Thursday with

the best girls' teams in Burnley and Pendle.  The day did not disappoint.  We played four matches in a league format and won two of them convincingly.  The other two games were nil nil draws against Walsden.

Walsden went through to the final and we had to play a semi-final against Reedley.  We won the semi- final and had to face Walsden once again.

The final was just as close as the league games with both teams matching each other.  With 4 minutes to go, we managed to go one goal up and I thought we had done enough to win the game.  However,  Walsden did not give up that easily and they struck back to equalise 1 v 1.

The game finished 1 v 1 and we were set to face the dreaded penalty shoot out.

The girls decided who should step up and take on the challenge and we scored all our penalties.  Walsden missed one of theirs which made us champions!

Naomi Harley and Mikayla Wildgoose, who are both professional centre backs for Burnley FC Women's team were on hand to award the girls with their medals, pendant and trophy.

Myself and Mrs Matthews are extremely proud of the way the girls worked together as a team and how wonderfully they represented themselves, the school and their families.

We have now made it through to the regional finals which will be held in the future at an EFL club (yet to be decided).

Burnley Football Club final

The finals of the Burnley Football Club were extremely exciting.  After a tense penalty shoot out in the semi-finals against the previous year's winning side, we progressed to the final.  After an entertaining stale-mate we ended the game at 0 v 0.

This took us on into another penalty shoot out, which sadly we lost, but we had a great day and represented our school in the best way possible!

Burnley Football Club Final

Girls Football at Burnley

We entered two girls teams to play in a football competition organised by Burnley FC in the Community.  The competition was against other schools in the Burnley and Pendle area.  The winning team would go forward to the local area finals, which would then (if we were lucky) lead to representing Burnley FC in a regional EFL cup to be played at Blackburn Rovers FC against other North Werst towns.

Both girls' teams played fantastically well in the competition.  Unfortunately, only one team could go through to the next round.  We look forward to the next round of fixtures.

Year 5/6 B league

The Year 5/6 B League began this week.  Our team got off to an amazing start registering two wins and one draw from the first round of fixtures.

Our Year 3/4 football team entered the inter school competition last week and registered two wins and a draw from their fixtures.  We finished 3rd in the league, narrowly missing out on a place in the semi finals.
